Growing up in Guernsey allowed me the privilege of being encircled by cliff walks, seascapes, and a rich artistic history.

After earning a Triple Award Distinction* in my Level 3 BTEC National Diploma, a burgeoning curiosity for colour theory and the pull of adding an extra dimension to my work shifted my focus from graphite and charcoal to watercolour. Accessibility was the immediate allure of the medium, soon replaced by its numerous qualities and capabilities; particularly the capacity to express the intangible and grasp something fleeting and delicate.

I think my fascination with portraiture is the pull of the “soul” and how the smallest detail can communicate a unique character, personality, or attitude. I find capturing the essence of an individual the greatest challenge with the highest reward, and the ethereal quality of watercolour is uniquely capable of capturing a moment in time.
